This week's photo features our parent luncheon that took place over the summer. Our PS596X parents were invited to take part in this luncheon to celebrate the achievements of their child during the 2018 - 2019 school year. The parents were treated to lunch and were given a photo of their child to decorate at the luncheon. Parents also had an opportunity to share success stories about their child. "Because You Celebrate Your Child's smallest milestones because they are precious"
It’s easy for parents of children with autism to get wrapped up in their child’s challenges and deficits. The systems of special education and disability care are focused on challenges and deficits. It takes a strong parent to manage those concerns and take the time to notice, delight in, and celebrate their child’s abilities and achievements.

Our goal is to build on our students knowledge and understanding of topics thorough vocabulary, writing, experiments and discussions. Parents can help by reinforcing the activities that we complete in school in their own home. Principal John Siracuse will be reading the book of the month during a special pajama read aloud which will be featured on our website and app each month.
