the week
Week of September 22, 2025
This week's photos feature our September Back to School parent engagement event at our 178, 153 and 498 sites.
On Friday, September 19, 2025 parents and guardians were invited into their child's classroom for a parent engagement activity. Parents had an opportunity to meet their child's classroom staff and complete an activity with their child.
The students and parents enjoyed taking part in this interactive activity. Parent engagement activities are held once a month to encourage parents to stay involved with our school community.

Former P596X student Joliah Ceda drew and created our school logo.
WELCOME
Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.
Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.
Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.
