PHOTO OF
THE WEEK
Week of June 16, 2025
This week's photos feature P596X Field Day 2025!
On Friday, May 23rd, students, parents and staff participated in Field Day 2025. The activities included ring toss, javelin throw, torch relay, pin the tail on the donkey, car racing, limbo, hurdle relay, long jump, home run derby, frisbee toss, soccer, volleyball, parachute games, bouncy ball racing, bubbles and more! The ceremony also included the 596X color guard! The students and staff enjoyed participating in this fun event and walked away with a medal for their participation!

Former P596X student Joliah Ceda drew and created our school logo.
WELCOME
Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.
Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.
Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
May - June
Same, Same but Different by Jenny Sue Kostecki- Shaw

What is the book of the month?
We have selected books that relate to our ReThink social/emotional curriculum. Bi-monthly, teachers and coaches will collaborate to unpack each book and design lessons, adaptations and resources to support the book’s topics. Our goal is to build on our students’ knowledge and understanding of social emotional concepts through literacy, vocabulary, writing, and discussions!
How can you get involved?
We would really love for the activities we complete at school, to also be reinforced at home. This includes the targeted vocabulary words, and some fun activities you can do at home or in the community with your child!
