PHOTO OF

THE WEEK

Week of September 4, 2024

This week's photo features our 2024 school magnet. Our latest magnet is a dog bone with the school name, website, and phone number printed on it. The magnet also includes our school slogan and our comfort dog Tellulah. Also featured this year are our P596X folder, notebook, calendar magnet with a list of school events and our hand sanitizer.

We are very excited for the new school year and are looking forward to a successful 2024 - 2025 school year!

WELCOME

Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.

Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.

Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

September - October

Coming Soon

Book of the Month

What is the book of the month?

We have selected books that relate to our ReThink social/emotional curriculum. Bi-monthly, teachers and coaches will collaborate to unpack each book and design lessons, adaptations and resources to support the book’s topics. Our goal is to build on our students’ knowledge and understanding of social emotional concepts through literacy, vocabulary, writing, and discussions!

How can you get involved?

We would really love for the activities we complete at school, to also be reinforced at home.  For starters, tune in to hear Principal John read the Book during a special pajama read aloud! You will find resources and activities for the book in the book of the month letter.  This includes the targeted vocabulary words, and some fun activities you can do at home or in the community with your child!
