photo of the week
Week of March 9, 2026
This week's photos feature our first ever Silent Disco at our 178 site. On Saturday, January 31, 2026, parents and students were invited to our Silent Disco in the 178 cafeteria. Each participant received a headset and was able to select from 3 different music channels (one student channel). Families were also welcome to dress in any decade for some added fun! We had over 100 people attend this event and it was a huge success. Special thanks to Elena Talamo-Mirabal for her disco decorations at this event!
The students and staff enjoyed taking part in this event! We hope to plan similar events in the near future.

Former P596X student Joliah Ceda drew and created our school logo.
WELCOME
Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.
Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.
Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.
