Students will have a half day for parent teacher conferences on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Students will be dismissed at 11:30am.
Please check with your child's bus driver for a more accurate drop off time.
Your child's teacher will provide additional information on parent teacher conferences or you can visit the parent teacher conference page on our website. Conferences will be held remotely.

Parent-Teacher conferences will be conducted remotely, however meetings with parents and caregivers may occur in person, on a day other than the scheduled parent-teacher conference date, at a mutually agreed date and time during the day.

Week of November 3, 2025
This week's photos feature part one of our Hispanic Heritage Celebration. On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, students, staff and parents joined us in the Truman High School Auditorium to listen to native music performed by the Francisco Navarrete Mariachi Band.
The celebration included dancing, singing and audience participation in several different musical numbers. The students, staff and parents enjoyed attending this fun event.
Former P596X student Joliah Ceda drew and created our school logo.

Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.
Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.
Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.
