photo of the week

Week of June 8, 2026

This week's photos feature our May parent engagement event at our 178, 153 and 498 sites. On Friday, May 15, 2026, students and parents were invited into their child's classroom to celebrate our May/June book of the month title, "Peanut Butter and Cupcake" by Terry Border. Parents engaged with their child's class as they read the book and made a peanut butter and jelly flipbook based around this title.

The students and parents enjoyed taking part in this fun and interactive activity.

WELCOME

Welcome to P.S. 596X! We are a district 75 New York City Public School serving students on the autism spectrum and other special needs from Pre-K through age 11 in three co-located sites: 11X178, 11X153 and 11X498.

Through this website, you will be able to step into our classrooms and hallways to get an idea of the wide variety of creative programs and practices in which students participate on a daily basis.

Our commitment is to provide the highest quality, state of the art instructional programs to our students, and to offer parents workshops and activities to equip themselves with the skills to best help their child. Through hands-on learning and fun-filled opportunities, our students make tremendous gains in social skills, language, and academics.
